Measuring the Internet
Increasing the Internet’s reach, reliability, and resilience is a key part of our work.
We need accurate data and analysis on these things to understand how the Internet is evolving. Internet Society Pulse consolidates trusted, third-party Internet measurement data from many sources into a single website.
Launched in 2020, the platform offers insights, data-driven stories, and examines global Internet trends to help journalists, policymakers, civil society organizations, and everyone in-between understand the health, availability, and evolution of the Internet. We currently present metrics on Internet technologies, Internet shutdowns, Internet resilience, and market concentration.

Growing the Internet
Because we can’t have a thriving Internet without reliable data on the forces shaping it, we’re:
- Adding new sources to Pulse and developing more partnerships with data providers and researchers to expand its dataset
- Presenting more data visualizations, in-depth analysis analysis, and data-driven stories
- Publishing real-world stories of how people’s lives are affected by Internet shutdowns
